Post-Standard (Michelle Breidenbach): Union members get paid to pack rallyThe state prison guards union has offered to pay members $150 to show up at a Watertown news conference to endorse Assemblyman Will Barclay, R-Pulaski, for the state Senate. The New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association wanted to “throw in a little bone” to union members who must sacrifice their personal time and take the day off to participate, said Tom Haas, the union’s Central region vice president. Assemblyman Darrel Aubertine, D-Cape Vincent, is running against Barclay for the Senate seat vacated by Sen. James Wright, R-Watertown.

    Seriously? THAT’S how they get support for a candidate? Resident’s of that Senate District should be appalled and should rally AGAINST BARCLAY on principal. If this is how he campaigns, Lord knows what he’d do if elected.
