I know, I know, why isn’t an old lefty, radical-liberal, new-fangled Progressive or whatever we’re calling any body to the left of Francisco Franco these days, like me joining the movement for Obama?
I really don’t care for some of Obama’s positions; e.g., private accounts for social security and mandated purchase of health insurance for two. While we’re at it, what genius decided that this was the way to get health care for everybody; i.e. , force the uninsured to buy health insurance, whether they can afford it or not? Mitt Romney, that’s who. He’s the guy Dems should follow on this issue?? Get real! If it’s not Single Payor….yeah, yeah…call it “Medicare for All” if that makes you feel better, I don’t want to hear it.
I also didn’t like Obama “triangulating” away the rights of gay people, in the South Carolina campaign with some of those people on his “Gospel Music” tour. While we’re at, what’s a Dem candidate doing with a “Gospel Music” tour in an election campaign?</p/
Hillary’s not exactly Emma Goldman, with her votes on the MBNA Bankruptcy Law and her, fear-she’ll-be-seen-as-too-weak to be “Commander-in Chief”, vote on war on Iraq. Personally, she’s as charismatic and charming as any candidate you’ll meet, which is a whole other story about why her handlers keep her chained up; but I know she won’t be compromising with the Repugs anytime soon. They won’t let her.
Yupper, that’s my main current rationale for voting for Hillary; i.e., I don’t want to hear about any damnable bipartisanship nonsense when the Dems are this close to control of Congress and the Winter Palace.</p.
The Repugs only want bipartisanship when they up against it. Then their idea of reaching to the other side is to whack off Pelosi and Reid’s outstretched hands at the wrist. How many times are the Dems on the Hill gonna draw back a bloody stump before they realize there is no such thing as a “Moderate Republican” these days?
After all these years of being beat down, the Dems are poised to win and then turn the other cheek to these right wing nutters and say “There is no red America. There is no Blue America. There are only stupid Dems who give back a red, white, and blue America to the Repugs”.
Hah! Its probably all worthless anyway, as no President, even with a majority in Congress, is gonna be able to dig out of the hole Bush has dug us into (as a conscious strategy–like Reagan’s old Stockman OMB Budget deficits) in just two terms.
