Gillibrand for Senate??

Albany Times Union (Leigh Hornbeck): Is Gillibrand a Senate dark horse?

For someone whose name is reportedly low on the list to replace Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, U.S. Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand is generating a lot of talk this week. The second-term congresswoman, who won a commanding victory in the majority-Republican 20th District in November, is one of a handful of state figures vying – at least in the public eye – for the third slot behind the most talked-about Senate possibilities, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and Caroline Kennedy. In that tally, Gillibrand, a Greenport Democrat, currently keeps company with her congressional colleagues Steve Israel and Carolyn Maloney, among others. But it’s Gillibrand’s name that keeps popping up, as the target of either praise or trash-talk.
